Reopening will ask us to adjust to some requirements that our conference has given us for the purpose of staying safe during this pandemic. Though we have reopened for gathered worship, we will continue to post a worship video on YouTube, Facebook, and the Service Videos page every Sunday. The time when it will be available online will be adjusted to enable us to use a recording of our live service.
There will be Sunday school classes following worship for those who would like to attend.
Here are some important guidelines that you need to know.
We are cleaning our facility prior to restarting and will maintain a high level of cleanliness. We would appreciate your participation by washing your hands with soap for 20 seconds or using hand sanitizer before coming in contact with fixtures, door handles, and other touch surfaces.
Everyone over the age of 2 entering the building for worship and/or Sunday school MUST wear a mask. If you do not have one, we will provide you with one. If you feel that you cannot wear a mask or if putting it on and removing it are physically difficult for you, our advice is to stay home and continue to worship with us online.
Those who are over 65 and those who have a medical condition that might put you at more risk for joining in gathered worship are advised to stay home and continue to worship with us online.
It is important for everyone to maintain 6 feet of distance between you and other people who are not part of your immediate family. Families, including children, will be seated together for worship and Sunday school and are asked to not wander around. (Children will be invited to the children’s Sunday school area once it has been set up for class, though it is requested that they remain with their parents until that time).
As singing tends to put more moisture droplets in the air and push them farther than talking, we are restricted from singing and other vocal acts of worship (with the exception of the Lord’s Prayer). Our service of worship will be modified to remove vocal participation until such time as we can do so safely.
All Bibles and hymnals have been removed from the seats. We ask you to bring a Bible from home so that you might participate in the reading of the Word.
We will not pass an offering plate but will ask you to place your tithes, gifts, and offerings in the white “Donation” box located between the main doors inside the sanctuary. You can also give online here. This is a safe and secure method that allows you to give using a debit or credit card if you so choose. You may also make arrangements with your bank or credit union to send a check (or checks) to the church on a one-time or regular basis.
Every other row of seating beginning with the front row are marked off as no-seating rows so that we can maintain safe distances between us during worship. If in doubt about where it is safe to sit, please ask.
These guidelines also apply to any group gatherings including Sunday school. Please know that we will do our best to keep you informed as early as possible of any changes or adjustments that have to be made; this is a work in progress. We are also open to your questions.
Please be in prayer for our congregation and the struggles that everyone is going through in this time. As the old saying goes, “We’ve never done it like this before.” Be safe, stay cautious, and remember to wear a mask and wash your hands thoroughly.
